After a week in France and the south of Germany, it was time to end our vaccation. On our way back home, we stopped at the Suspension bridge Geierlay in the state of Rheinland Pfalz.
There’s ample of parking available, but visitors need to be aware, that parking right at the Tourist Information is pretty expensive. And there is no information at the entrance to the parking.
From parking 1 it’s less then 2 km walk to the bridge. On the way we found a lot of different trees of different kinds with signs beside the path. A lot of fruit trees, aswell as others will spend shadow in the future. Another interesting thing is the information boards about renewable energy on they way.
A vendor is selling drinks and snacks half way to the bridge, for a reasonable price.
The bridge itself is 350m long spanning between to slopes left and right of a valley. The entrance to the bridge is free of charge, and it’s a lot of fun to walk across.
Back at the parking we had a coffee (a small cup 180ml for 2,90€). The biggest setback of the visit was the fee of 10€ for parking. It seems to be not depending on the time you spent. But there are plenty of foc parking available, which are just a bit farther from the bridge.
