As part of their thrusted travel program, the US customs & boarder protection offers a Global Entry option to the citizens several eligible countries.

The current (August 2025) application fee for a 5 years membership is 120$.
Even though the application can take a while to complete and become active, I think it’s worth the hassle.
I applied in January 2025 with all necessary background information, such as Passport, Visa, US ID/drivers license. For foreigners not living in the US, there may be other documents necessary.
After a waiting time of almost 6 month I received the information, that another step would have to be completed to eventually achieve Thrusted traveler status.
I had to travel to Germany to get a simple background check from the German police.
So I did a two day „border run“ to Frankfurt to fulfill this necessity.
Three weeks later another email informed me, that I should make an appointment for an interview.
After completing that interview, it took less than an hour to unlock my Global Entry status that comes with TSA Pre check, one of the perks that makes traveling easier and quicker, because the security check at airports has shorter queues.
